One thing that is very striking about images like these, is how it is full of men making what appears to be important decisions, about who? And for Whom?

Using goldleaf, I have added the people who are at the whim of these decisions, who are never invited to these gilded gatherings. The environment has been festooned with festive pennants, suggesting a party life place and contrast that to the Sea scene in the background that migrants are attempting to make a sea crossing.
