Sadat Sends Off the Shah

This is taken from a photograph of the burial of the Shah of Iran, in Egypt. You can see at the head of the casket is Anwar Sadat, the peacemaker who will be shot to death by his own military within a year. The Shah's daughter is to the left in baby blue and his son who has been agitating of late to the right in black. 

These events, which had ramifications well passed 1980 led me to call this series, 1980: the first year of the new millennium. The colours are selected from the many styles and eras of my childhood home. 

In this case, my parent's bedroom was dusty rose and my bedroom was baby blue.
