The Don Jail: A Toronto Lost Landmark 11x14

This painting is acrylic on Birch panel. This is a view west of the now demolished Toronto Jail, which was part of the Don Jail facility. The old panopticon facility was no longer in use and this newer one was used until it's demolition in 2013. Constantly over crowded and in terrible shape, it served as a reminder of the problems in the justice system, not as an abstract idea but something I would see daily as it was less than half a kilometre from my house.
